For Nintendo’s upcoming third-person shooter, we combined watercolor-stylized game elements with sharp gameplay, allowing characters and firepower from the two contrasting worlds to interact.

A unique workflow was implemented for this project due to the fact that, while the piece is entirely graphic, a more editorial style was used to fit it together. To highlight the fast-paced, action-packed nature of the game, the watercolor scenes were woven together to make viewers feel as though they are flying through a stylized version of Sin and Punishment: Star Successor, weaving in and out of the screens displaying gameplay, as well as the integrated review quotes.

One of our first graphics projects to be partnered with our London office, the trailer for this film proved to be a downright fun adventure. We expressed the playfulness of the film, integrating a pirate theme into the cards and main title. We wanted to also play up the girliness of the film, so we opted for pink as a backplate color.

To play off the gritty, stenciled style of the DVD box art, we created our own spray paint-inspired elements for this piece.

We first spray painted boards and photographed them to get a real spray effect, then built upon the photos by making specific brushes in Photoshop so we could have more control over the animation of the textures. To integrate the footage, we started layering a “wall” of sorts over it, then built upon that with our textures, and stenciled elements of the film, which also served as a segue into the next scene.

In a campaign aimed to advertise the high level of quality of picture and sound, we wanted to smoothly integrate the copy to keep the focus on the footage itself.

The bright flares, combined with the iconic James Bond gun barrel sequence were used to transition between scenes, coinciding with the fast-paced footage. Having as much excitement in the movie itself allowed us to have some fun with the cards, including “Perfect Picture” being pushed off-screen by a car careening towards camera. We resolve with the “7 gun” meeting the zeroes, forming the classic 007 logo, which comes to rest as part of the DVD box art.

In this Digital Copy spot, Horton takes us on a journey from box art to laptop to iPod with his smooth dance moves and graceful dive.Being the lively, light-hearted movie that it is, we wanted Horton to come alive and be a playful part of the transition, so footage from the film was rotoscoped and integrated with the devices on which Digital Copy movies can be played.

With such exciting, action-packed footage to draw from, we chose to use a missile as a way to transition from device to device. First bursting off of the box art, then traveling through the world of Babylon A.D., the missile brought the Digital Copy of the film from the DVD to the laptop, and then onto the iPod.
