To celebrate last night’s Academy Awards ceremony, today’s issue of The New Yorker pays tribute to the movies that received nods for Best Picture.

Frequent cover artist, Mark Ulriksen, patched together characters from the films, resulting in a mishmash of unlikely bedfellows, all reaching out for the coveted Oscar statue.
